SEO is a technique for making our sites or blogs are on the first page/position of the search engine.
ex: Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
The definition of SEO is very large, but it has similar meaning, to optimize a page of website/blog to the first page of Search Engine with the keywords are targeted.
The example of applying SEO
here's the explanation: if the most of people want to know the steps of making lemon tea, they will type to search engine with keyword, "how to make a lemon tea" in Google, about 90% people will click to Wikihow website.
The Advantages of using SEO
1. To Increases the Traffic (readers/visitors)
We already know that blog is on the first page of Search Engine must be visited with big traffic, depends on the keyword that they targeted.
2. To Increase Sales
if a website (such as Ebay or Amazon) sells a products or things, and the people want to buy a laptop in Google with keywords, "buy laptop online", and that site has a high rank, of course 95% that site gets the income from the SEO.
3. To Increase the Competitiveness
Obviously if a website is on the top rank, the competition is getting higher.
There are many more advantages of SEO that I can't mention, I believe the only 3 things above you surely already know about the benefits of SEO.
The History of SEOAccording to Danny Sullivan, the definition of Search Engine Optimization was first used at July 26th, 1997 from the spam message that was posted in Usenet.
The early versions of search algorithms was based entirely on information provided by the webmaster through meta tags in the Html code of their website.
Meta tag provides information about the content that is contained in a webpage with a set of keywords.
Several Webmasters do manipulation by writing keywords that are not relevant to the real site content, so the search engine placed incorrectly and warned that site. This thing causes the search result becomes not accurate and disadvantages the search engine either the internet users who expected the relevant and qualified information.
The SEO Basics that You Should Know
This SEO Basics are the foundation, why? because that is a thing that should be applied if you want to be SEO expert or make different site at the top page/position of Google with the keyword you targeted.
What are the Basics of SEO?
1. On Page SEO
Heard that words above must be not a strange thing anymore for the SEO expert, but it's very strange for the newbies. On Page SEO is a technique to optimize webpage with applying the basics of keyword that is targeted. The Advantages of this SEO page are the sites will be rated as relevant by Google, also if that page has only few backlinks, can be assured rocketing easily for to the top rank#1 Google.
The Followings are the basics that should be applied on SEO on page:
1. Title Tag
2. Meta Description
3. URL
4. Heading (h1, h2, h3, h4)
5. Image & Image ALt Tag
6. Link to Site Authority
Title Tag
Title Tag is the same as the title of post/article, the difference is title tag is read by search engine, if the title tag is not changed or similar to title post, the title post will show to search engine. If you are using WordPress, you can replace title tag by using WordPress Seo Yoast. For Blogger user we will explain it at the next article.
Meta Description
Meta Description is an information from the webpage based on your article words post, if you want meta description be interesting, you need to modify it by using WordPress Seo Yoast (for WordPress user), and for Blogger user we will explain it at the next article.
URL
A uniform resource locator (abbreviated URL; also known as a web address, particularly when used with HTTP) is a specific character string that constitutes a reference to a resource. That's Wikipedia definition.
In my opinion, it's just a sets of characters that formed into link and leads to specific page. simple definition isn't it? :))
Heading
Heading is a set of words that turns into Title or Subtitle in a html document. Heading is different with tag <title>
Html provides 6 levels of heading, where level 1 heading (<h1>) is the biggest, and usually in the title post, and level 6 heading (<h6>) is the smallest.

Link to Authority Site
What is Link to Authority Site? it is a post containts many trustworthy links (that Google trusted) such as Youtube, Wikipedia, Facebook, and many more.
How to know the sites are trusted by Google?
You can see it from their Page Rank (PR), if a site has page rank more than 7, it can be said that it is a trusted site by Google ( Authority Site ).
How to know their page rank then?
the easy way is just installing WebRank SEO Extentions from Google Chrome Web Store (if you are using Chrome), or installing SEO Toolbar from seobook or seoquake (if you are using Mozilla).
2. Offpage SEO
Off Page Search Engine Optimization, it is the way to optimizing page from the outside of site (using backlink), "What is Backlink?".
Backlink is Link from our website that's in other website (other people's web) which has high Page Rank.
Search Engine like Google very loves qualified Backlink which means Backlink from Authority site (trusted by Google) and has high Page Rank such as Wikipedia, Twitter, Wordpress, and etc.
Therefore, a site will be raised its position by Google if having backlink from the Authority Site, and even our site can be high ranked with targeted keywords if getting backlink from the high PR site.
Backlink is divided into two, there are Dofollow Backlink and Nofollow Backlink
Nofollow and Dofollow are tag that be used by Search Engine for differing every links. Nofollow links won't be scanned by Search Engine. Whereas Dofollow link are scanned by Search Engine.
